Xarelto Lawsuit Numbers Surpass 3,000 In Louisiana MDL And Pennsylvania Mass Tort Groups

February 29, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on recent case numbers involved in Xarelto lawsuits, indicating that complaints filed against manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson) discussing blood-thinning drug Xarelto have surpassed 3,000 across the United States. This concerningly large number is made up of a consolidation of over 2,800 Xarelto lawsuits which were transferred to a single court by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation to create MDL No. 2592 in the Eastern District of Louisiana as well as an additional mass tort group of more than 550 cases which has been formed by the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Amazingly, these thousands of lawsuit plaintiffs all allege strikingly similar things, and they continue to be joined by others who agree and are stepping forward to file their own lawsuit. Allegations indicate that defendants Janssen and Bayer have neglected to properly warn potential patients and medical practitioners about a possible elevated risk for the occurrence of sudden dangerous bleeding episodes in patients taking the anticoagulant.

Plaintiffs currently awaiting trial have found some comfort in the fact that their Xarelto complaints very closely mirror previously settled lawsuits filed against blood thinner Pradaxa, which also continued to increase in number and rapidly included thousands of cases. Pradaxa cases were settled by the defendant outside of court, and many of the plaintiffs involved in Xarelto lawsuits are hoping for a similar outcome.

In 2011, The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Xarelto as a new-generation anticoagulant to treat patients healing after undergoing hip and knee replacement surgeries, as well as patients with pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. This initial approval was later expanded to include treatment for patients dealing with atrial fibrillation; a heart condition which may put sufferers at an increased risk of stroke.

Those involved believe that as the growing number of plaintiffs await trial, lawsuit numbers will only continue to increase. At this time, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to ensure that everyone who believes they have were negatively affected by the drug will have the opportunity to explore their legal options in full. These patients may be entitled to legal action and substantial compensation. To better assist them in their pursuit of justice, Attorney Osborne is now offering complimentary legal consultations for those affected.
