Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN) Favorable Financial Results and Positive Guidance for 2016
MENLO PARK, CA / ACCESSWIRE / March 2, 2016 / Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN) a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of a telomerase inhibitor, imetelstat, in hematologic myeloid malignancies, recently reported financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2015 and recent events. GERN reported a loss of 5 cents per share in the fourth quarter of 2015, a penny narrower than the year-ago period. While the company reported break-even earnings for the full year compared to a loss of 23 cents per share in 2014, 2015 revenues shot up to $36.4 million from revenues of $1.2 million in 2014. 2015 results benefited from the recognition of the $35 million upfront payment from Johnson & Johnson’s JNJ Janssen related to their collaboration agreement for imetelstat. Geron is currently working on expanding its pipeline – the company is seeking to add new oncology candidates, programs or companies to its portfolio with its focus primarily on the hematology-oncology space.
Coming off a 52-week low, the company announced favorable financial results and positive guidance for 2016. But does opportunity exists for investors?
