Former Managing director of  Bild Training Hub, Austa Mireku has come out clean in the recruitment scam reported in Ghana four years ago. The Ghana police have also issued a certificate of no involvement to Mireku, who was earlier alleged as the ‘mastermind’ behind the scam.

Reportedly, the police had arrested five members of a syndicate on the grounds that they collected money from the job seekers, on the false promise of getting them recruited into Glo Mobile Ghana Limited.

An article on the internet reported Mireku to be the prime suspect, however, later on; all the allegations were reported to be false. He was out of the station when the scam occurred in his office and the police made some arrests. After four years of the scam, things were sorted out and the police finally gave a clearance certificate to Austa Mireku.

In 2012, Felix Mawusi, Director of the Commercial Crime Unit said in his statement to the media that the group set up a recruitment company named Eklektik. He also mentioned that the group posted an advertisement about a job opening in Glo Mobile Ghana and asked job seekers to apply for it along with an application fee.

About 24 people applied for the job paying GH100 and GH200 cedis to the group. The main motive of the online fraud was to exert money from the candidates under the pretext of getting them a job. Glo Mobile Ghana, also warned the public, a month after the scam was exposed, for not to fall into such online scams and be wary of such recruitments websites and companies which operate illegally.

Austa Mireku’s was completely unaware of the scam that happened in his office as he was out of town. When the police made the arrest, he was equally shocked and devastated as the others who heard this news. Now that the police have issued him a clearance certificate, he has taken a sigh of relief and aims to keep a better check on the activities happening in his office.
