Xarelto Lawsuits Consolidated To Form Philadelphia Mass Tort Program By The Court Of Common Pleas

March 23, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the steady increase in filed Xarelto lawsuits. Some of these lawsuits have now been consolidated by the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas to form a mass tort program.

The program is now made up of over 600 cases in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to these lawsuits, however, more than 2,800 others have been federally-filed and consolidated to form multidistrict litigation number 2592 in Eastern Louisiana. Together, Xarelto lawsuit filings now number more than 3,400 within the last 5 years alone. And plaintiffs involved in these lawsuits all share strikingly common allegations that the blood-thinning drug puts users at significant risk for bleeding episodes, some of which have proven fatal.

Plaintiffs in both groupings have filed their lawsuits against Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson corporation). Plaintiffs also state that these defendants failed to adequately inform the medical community and potential patients of these possible risks.

Xarelto was given FDA approval in 2011, but has since also been given two black box warnings from the FDA, which are the most strict product warnings possible to receive before a product is completely pulled from the market. Today, new controversies have been brought to light concerning the drug’s initial FDA approval and potential false results during clinical trials which may have helped lead to this premature approval. An investigation is currently underway concerning these potential issues and others.

At this time, as plaintiffs from across the nation anxiously await trial, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help anyone who may have taken Xarelto and who also suffered from medical problems that they attribute to their use of the anticoagulant. He has noted that these patients deserve to be given the important opportunity to fully evaluate their legal rights in the matter, as they could be entitled to substantial compensation through legal action. In order to better assist those interested in looking into pursuing justice, Attorney Osborne is currently offering complimentary legal consultations for affected patients.
