Bobby Gonzalez is no stranger to making on-time predictions and creating basketball records of his own. We may be hearing Bobby Gonzalez’s name for elite program coaching jobs in the near future. Hosted by Anita Marks, the show is from 11:00am – 12:00pm and is a one stop shop for all things sports related. This week he will reveal more March Madness predictions. Who better than Bobby Gonzalez, former head coach for Manhattan College, to come and breakdown the competition between the Sweet 16 teams and their road to the NCAA final four.
Bio Summary: The high school assistant coach, Gonzalez graduated to the collegiate level with Xavier, where he also served as an assistant. He also served as an assistant at Providence and the University of Virginia before landing a head coaching job at Manhattan College. His basketball hyper-intelligence began to reveal itself at Manhattan. He spent only a few seasons guiding this team and led them to an overall 129-77 record. While developing this record, the NCAA tournament played host to two of his teams. Seton Hall University welcomed him after the stint at Manhattan. While coaching at Seton Hall University, Gonzalez notched a 66-59 record and made it to the NIT tournament.
If you ask the majority of his players about their tenure with him, they will call Coach Gonzalez a mentor. He has created a reputation of being what one might call a “basketball whisperer”. Inspiring his players to perform at the highest level one hundred percent of the time is a gift that he has demonstrated time and time again. His gift when coaching is to get his players to buy in on the most basic level, and then build them up to truly unite and carry out the team vision. Publications like USA Today and ESPN have written and commented with avid support about the coach.
