This is the second book Norde’ has authored. The book was written with the aim in mind to provide information on the devastating impact that bullying has on the victim as well as the bully. There’s also particular excitement about this launch because living children dressed in superhero costumes are pictured as the characters.
The book sets its main focus on the reasons children bully each other. Readers will likely find a particular interest in the “No Bullying Pledge” they are asked to copy and sign which is in the back of the book. The book’s cover art was created by Tep Gardner. The book is being released by Do The Write Thing Foundation of DC.
Gerald Norde’ Jr. has a background in education and education administration. This helped shaped the creation of the book since nationwide over 160,000 students miss school everyday for fear of being bullied.
When asked about why he wrote the book, Norde’ said: “Children are becoming depressed, self-conscious, uninterested in school and even suicidal because they are being bullied.”
Norde has hopes that the book will encourage children to be like a superhero and choose not to bully. This positive outlook from the author is certainly testament to Norde’s optimism considering some of the mishaps during its creation. At one point there was a shortage of children for the photo shoot. Therefore one boy had to pose multiple times as different superheroes.
In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking TEP Entertainment for their part in the creation of the book, saying: “Thank you for the photography and graphic designs.”
