Georgia Plaintiff Filing Xarelto Lawsuit Claims Blood Thinner Caused Death Of Father

March 25, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on the filing of another lawsuit referencing new-generation blood-thinning drug Xarelto. The complaint now joins over 2,800 other cases which were federally-filed from plaintiffs across the nation. These cases were transferred and consolidated after an order from the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, forming them into MDL number 2592.

This particular lawsuit was filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana under complaint number 2:15-cv-00885 on March 20th of 2015. It was filed by a son on behalf of his deceased father. Court documents indicate that the son alleges that his father passed away due to an uncontrollable internal bleeding episode which he believes was caused by his father’s use of the anticoagulant drug Xarelto. His lawsuit lists Xarelto manufacturers Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson corporation) as the defendants.

The plaintiff indicates that his father was prescribed Xarelto by a doctor in order to help him avoid strokes, which he may have been at increased risk for due to his atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is a fairly common heart condition which can sometimes make a patient’s heart beat at a faster rate than normal. Patients with this condition frequently use blood thinners as a preventative measure to help avoid strokes. The plaintiff says, that when choosing to use Xarelto as a blood thinner, he and his father were not made aware of possible dangerous side effects that he now connects to his father’s use of the blood thinner.

After its 2011 launch onto the market, Xarelto was very popular with the public, yet this tide appears to be shifting. Today, the drug is the subject of more than 3,400 lawsuits from all around the United States. 2,800 of these lawsuits were consolidated in MDL 2592, while more than 600 others have formed a mass tort program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Court of Common Pleas. As time progresses, these lawsuit numbers have steadily increased as well, and many involved believe that they will only continue to increase in number as plaintiffs involved await their trials.

As these individuals look to pursue what they deem to be justice, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to help patients who have taken Xarelto and who have suffered from adverse events that they attribute to their use of the anticoagulant. He wants to help ensure that these patients will be provided the critical opportunity to investigate their legal rights in the matter. Affected individuals may be entitled to significant compensation attained through legal action. Those who wish to look into their legal options are currently offered free legal consultations through Attorney Osborne.
