First Aid Shoppe Announces Compact Trauma Kit Is Intended For Treatment Of Serious Injuries

March 28, 2016 – – First Aid Shoppe, founded on a recognized need in the direct consumer market for high-end, premium first aid products, announced that their compact severe-injury kit, the ResQue 1st Trauma Kit With SWAT-Tourniquet, has raised the bar on what can be offered in a small (less than half a pound) kit, specifically for use in a serious injury situation.

“The items in this kit were designed for combat,” says First Aid Shoppe COO, Anna Loehwing. “We’re offering it packaged in a single kit for the public, but the core items were developed and refined on the battlefield and in the field with civilian emergency responders.” The ResQue 1st Trauma Kit With SWAT-Tourniquet contains two key items, with accessories, each key item designed to stop severe bleeding and treat traumatic injury on the scene.

The Advanced Clotting Sponge is in use by emergency responders globally, from police to fire to special weapons units, and is a combat-ready hemostatic (clotting) agent. It works by direct application to the wound. The sponge and its active agent clot the serious bleeding at the spot.

The SWAT (Stretch Wrap And Tuck) Tourniquet takes its name from the special police unit where it was heavily developed. In a penetrating wound injury or high fracture, where heavy loss of arterial blood in the extremities becomes a danger, the SWAT-Tourniquet is used to stem the flow. It can be placed high in the armpit or groin area to clamp the artery and stabilize the injury until help can arrive or be sought.
