Combined Xarelto Lawsuit Numbers Surpass 3,400 In Louisiana MDL And Philadelphia Mass Tort Program
April 20, 2016 – – BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on recently reported Xarelto lawsuit numbers, which show that complaints filed in reference to Xarelto against defendants Bayer AG and Janssen Pharmaceuticals (a division of Johnson & Johnson) have now surpassed 3,400 in number across the United States. This mounting number is made up of two main large groupings of lawsuits: a consolidation of over 2,800 Xarelto lawsuits which were transferred to a single court in Eastern Louisiana by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, forming MDL number 2592, as well as a mass tort program made up of over 620 lawsuits which was consolidated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Court of Common Pleas.
The thousands of plaintiffs involved in these lawsuits share strikingly similar claims that Janssen and Bayer have neglected to adequately warn the public and doctors about the dangerous possibility that the drug can put users at increased risk for the development of sudden and severe bleeding episodes.
Those involved are currently awaiting bellwether trial dates set for early 2017. They have received support in their allegations from the results of multiple tests which have been conducted on the drug. After only 5 years on the market, Xarelto lawsuit numbers seem to be following in the same footsteps of those that recently mounted referencing Pradaxa, a similar blood-thinning drug.
In 2011, Xarelto was given approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and it was initially thought of by the public as a revolutionary new type of blood thinner, as it was able to provide consumers with increased freedoms that traditional blood thinners had been unable to in the past. The drug was approved to treat patients recovering from hip or knee replacement surgeries, as well as those who were suffering from pulmonary embolism, and deep vein thrombosis. The approved uses were later expanded to treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation as well.
Many who are involved in the pending Xarelto lawsuits believe that complaint numbers will only continue to grow as time moves on and trial dates closely approach. At this time, Attorney Joseph Osborne is working to assist other patients who believe that they have also been negatively impacted by Xarelto. He wants to ensure that all patients who feel they have been affected will be provided with the opportunity to explore their legal rights in full. These patients may be entitled to substantial compensation gained through legal action. To better assist those wanting to further explore their options, Attorney Osborne is now offering complimentary legal consultations for qualified individuals.
