Another Work Site Injury Prompts Comment From Construction Accident Lawyer
May 23, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commented on a February incident in Midtown Manhattan involving a construction worker who was injured while on the job. Moverman stated that he wishes the worker a speedy recovery while indicating that these events occur far too often.
According to a report by ABC7, the man was injured as he was working at a building that was undergoing demolition. He was secured by a rope when a piece of concrete fell and struck him in the head. First responders had to remove him from the scaffolding that was 20 stories up. Officials were trying to determine whether the falling concrete was connected to the demolition.
Common injuries associated with construction accidents include lacerations, broken or fractured bones, spinal injuries, and brain injuries. There are also a few different types of construction accidents that typically affect workers on the job. Among those are scaffolding accidents, slips, trips and falls and ladder accidents. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, New York saw 86 fatal injuries in 2014 related to construction and maintenance occupations. Twenty-four of those incidents involved contact with objects and equipment and 28 were because of falls, slips, and trips.
