E-Cig Lawsuit Filings Increase As Father Alleges E-Cigarette Exploded Inches From Son’s Face
May 29, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on a news release from DailyMail.com detailing the story of a father who suffered from an e-cigarette explosion while rollerskating with his young son. The device allegedly exploded from in his pocket, which was just several inches from the face of his 7-year-old son. The two were skating together at the Bury Roller Rink in Greater Manchester when the incident occurred. The father is said to have required skin grafts to repair severe burns, and to have suffered nerve damage and loss of feeling.
The man stated in the news release, “I’d been picking my son up the whole time as he kept falling over, that explosion could’ve been in his face. The battery wasn’t even on, I don’t know what happened, it went off like a Roman candle or something. The lights came on and the music went off- people were just staring at me, and then the manager ran over to see if I was okay.”
The father now reportedly is required to visit the hospital every two days in order to receive treatments for his burns. He stated, “It was a nightmare, I was in shock and the kids were just silent, they were terrified.”
Unfortunately, this man is not the only alleged victim of e-cigarette explosion injuries. The article also makes note of an incident reported by a mother who states that she suffered severe burns on her legs when the same brand of battery exploded in her purse while she was traveling in the car with her husband and daughter.
