Construction Accident Lawyer Reports Short Falls Can Cause Serious Injuries

June 03, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com has reported that another New York construction worker was recently injured when he fell from a ladder while working.

The accident occurred inside of an excavation trench where the worker was on an unsecured ladder. He fell from that ladder, only about four to six total feet, but even a fall of that short height left him with serious injuries to one of his legs. The trench was a full 40 feet deep and he was unable to get out. Thankfully, coworkers heard his call for help and called for assistance. Once lifted out of the trench he was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

Mr. Tom Moverman, a partner at Lipsig, Shapey, Manus,& Moverman, P.C., said “People are always surprised that a seemingly minor fall of just a few feet can cause serious damage. But the reality is that falling from even a standing position can cause spinal damage, head trauma, broken bones, and more.”

Falls don’t result in only injuries, however. Sadly, many construction workers lose their lives when they fall from a height. In fact, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration has named falls as one of the “Fatal Four”, a set of accidents which cause the majority of deaths on job sites throughout the country. Of these four, falls are the leading cause, resulting in nearly 40% of all worker’s deaths.

Since first opening their doors in 1989, the attorneys at Mr. Moverman’s firm have dedicated themselves to assisting men and women who have been injured while working in the construction industry. They have successfully represented thousands of clients and have obtained the compensation that is so desperately needed. In one recent case, a plaintiff was awarded $8,000,000 to cover his past and future medical expenses after he injured his spine in a fall from defective scaffolding.
