Accident Lawyer Comments On Brooklyn Construction Worker’s Death

According to NYTimes.com, a Queens man working at a construction site in Brooklyn was struck by debris which led to him falling 2 stories down an elevator shaft.

When medical personnel arrived on the scene, the victim was placed in an ambulance en route to Maimonides Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to police. Since the accident, The Buildings Enforcement Safety Team has been assigned to investigate the building, and a stop-work order has been implemented. A preliminary report concluded that the debris had fallen from a ceiling.

According to OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), there are almost 2.3 million construction workers in the United States, and approximately 2 out of every 100 are projected to miss days from work, due to job restrictions or transfers resulting from industry-related injuries and illnesses.
