Contra Costa County Real Estate Agent Volunteers At B Walker Ranch To Help Special Needs Adults

June 13, 2016 – – Elizabeth Russo, a leading Contra Costa County real estate agent in Walnut Creek, CA, has volunteered at the B. Walker Ranch. The ranch provides opportunities for adult people with autism to find a sense of belonging through the performance of tasks required in running a ranch. They had recently organized a volunteer day to better highlight the work that they do, and to ask the community to help them to deliver those services. Russo was very happy to take part.

Elizabeth Russo herself says: “I filled in ground squirrel holes. I got a blister and hives. And I had to go to the pool the next day and appreciate that I’m really only meant to be a paper pusher. What an experience, and for such a good cause.”

The B Walker Ranch is dedicated to maximizing opportunities that better serve adult individuals with disabilities. The ranch setting offers a range of experiences, enabling people with disabilities to build their confidence, and also to cultivate relationships within a holistic and educational environment. They provide the popular ‘Loving Day Program’, which focuses on the abilities of participants, rather than their disabilities. In so doing, they set attainable challenges and realistic goals, thereby affirming their identity and what they can become.

Meanwhile, Realtor Elizabeth Russo is fully committed to equal housing opportunities throughout the nation. This is in keeping with the spirit of the overall national policy. As such, she encourages and supports affirmative advertising and marketing of her properties. She ensures barriers to obtain housing are removed, looking beyond national origin, familial status, gender, religion, race, or disability. It is for this reason that, when the opportunity presented itself for her to volunteer at the B Walker Ranch, she jumped at the chance.

“I want to make sure that people are able to get homes that are right for them as individuals,” adds Russo. “It saddens me when I hear that people with disabilities find it difficult to find a property, for instance. By volunteering at B Walker Ranch, I have also been able to learn so much more about this group of our society and I feel I am much better able to serve them.”
