Attorney Kevin Cortright Speaks With Bryan Gallo of KMIR Channel 4 About Workers’ Compensation

In this episode, Bryan interviewed Kevin about Workers’ Compensation and being injured at work. He talks about what to do if somebody has been injured at work, the first steps to take, and how to deal with the situation after that. The first topic that Mr. Cortright covers is that of the first steps one should take when faced with an injury at work. He states that it is important to make sure the injury is immediately reported to the employer, as they will want to have initial forms filled out and send the employee to a doctor. By reporting to the employer, the injured person will be able to see a doctor as soon as possible and be treated for their injury. Doing this also means that everything will be documented properly for future use by a lawyer or insurance company.

The second topic that they spoke about was doctors and how they are appointed for a Workers’ Compensation case. Many people want to be treated by their own doctors when they are injured at work, but it is important that they go to the doctors listed on their employer’s medical provider network. These doctors are specialized for Workers’ Compensation cases and know the system. They understand the forms, reporting, and duties associated with a Workers’ Compensation case.

Lastly, Kevin clarified when the best time to contact a lawyer is when somebody is injured at work. He states that one should contact a lawyer as soon as possible when faced with the situation of being injured at work. Mr. Cortright says that the employer has their lawyer, and so does the insurance company, so it is ideal for the injured party to protect their own interest as well.
