As Pyles noted, the AccuTaper – Painting for the 21st century tool is the world’s first masking tape applicator that can apply, measure, and cut tape to fit exactly into corners.

As anyone who has ever painted a room knows quite well, tape is a great way to get crisp and clean lines along the edges. Taping is also faster for non-professionals; it can easily take 4 hours or more to brush in the edges in an average size living room.

Thanks to the newly-launched AccuTaper, people can tape the same average sized room in less than an hour. Once homeowners begin to paint the room, they can easily roll the paint up to the tape, so no careful and time consuming brush work is ever needed.

Pyles and the other designers of the AccuTaper actually created the first version of the revolutionary tool a few years ago. Recently, they decided to upgrade the new and improved AccuTaper 2.0, which has been redesigned to cut masking tape easier than ever.

“The AccuTaper is designed with a specially tapered roller that guides the tape to the edge and keeps it there as you tape,” Pyles said, adding that a built-in “measuring stick” perfectly spaces the taper away from the corner.

“Integrated scissors cut the tape with a simple push and always at the correct length and always perfectly square. There’s no guesswork and no extra tools required.”

In order to help pay for the production costs of the AccuTaper 2.0, Pyles recently launched a fundraiser on the Kickstarter website. He hopes to raise $15,000 through crowdfunding, and help bring the newly-updated 21st century painting tool into the hands of DIY’ers across the country.
