Vermont’s Tragic Traffic Flagger Death, Spurs Response From Construction Accident Lawyer

June 21, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman referenced a prior incident that fatally injured a Vermont traffic flagger to emphasize the necessity for construction safety reform. Moverman sends his condolences to the family of the fallen victim. He also notes that the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, federal regulators, and lawmakers should immediately revise safety rules and regulations in order to minimize the potential for future construction injuries and fatalities.

As detailed in a local report from EquipmentWorld.com, a local traffic flagger was struck by a Eustis Cable Enterprises truck off of Route 7 in Vermont. The report indicates that the accident is currently being reviewed and investigated. Also included in the report, Green Mountain Flagging, the employer of the victim, stated that employee safety remains their top priority. The accident occurred on March 21st and fatally injured the 75-year-old traffic flagger.

A report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicated that there was a 5 % increase in fatal work injuries from 2013 to 2014. The report also claims that 2014 had the highest number of work-related fatalities since 2008. The BLS also indicated that nearly ¼ of fatal occupational injuries in 2014, occurred during Roadway accidents, which regrettably caused the fatal death of the Vermont flagger.
