Construction Accident Lawyer Comments On Scottsdale Accident That Killed One Worker

June 22, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman details a new development in Arizona, where a local construction worker lost his life after being struck by an oncoming vehicle. Moverman is disheartened by the recent Arizona tragedy, moreover, he hopes that with the increase in the frequency of construction worker injuries and fatalities that lawmakers will create additional safety regulations to deter future incidents.

As indicated in a local report from AZCentral.com, a 22-year-old Laveen native was struck and killed by a passenger vehicle while removing construction barricades on Loop 101, just outside Scottsdale. The victim was immediately taken to a local medical center, where he regrettably passed away due to the injuries he sustained. The incident occurred on June 14th, and a formal investigation is currently ongoing, however, a Department of Public Safety official stated that it remains unclear if enforcement action will be taken against the driver.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) stated that there were nearly 5,000 fatal injuries in the United States in 2014. Of those fatalities, construction workers made up nearly 20 % of the year’s death toll, indicated by the close to 900 construction workers who lost their lives in 2014. The BLS report also specified that over 1,150 fatal injuries were sustained in roadway incidents in 2014, making up nearly a ¼ of the year’s fatalities.
