Missouri Man Sustains Third-Degree Burns In E-Cigarette Explosion, E-Cig Explosion Lawsuit Likely To Follow

June 22, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Marc Freund recently commented on a recent development in Missouri, that left a local man with third-degree burns, and seeking treatment at a local hospital after his e-cigarette exploded in his pocket. Attorney Freund wishes the man a speedy recovery and encourages the man to seek legal counsel. Freund notes that e-cigarette explosions have occurred almost regularly in 2016, and believes that all retailers and manufacturers have a responsibility to inform consumers of the potential dangers the devices present.

As reported by a local Fox affiliate Fox 2, a local man claims that he was walking across a bar, when all of a sudden his e-cigarette exploded in his pants pocket. The man described the incident as the “e-cig battery ignited like a firework,” and consequently, the Wentzville native sustained third-degree burns to his legs. The report also indicated that there have been several Missouri residents who have been injured by their e-cigs in recent months.

There have already been 77 reported e-cigarette explosions in 2016 thus far, which is far greater than the total number of explosions from 2015 of 47, as reported by an e-cig explosion timeline that was created by TheProductLawyers.com with help from ECigOne.com. Since 2009, there have been 5 reported e-cigarette explosions in Missouri, moreover, 3 such explosions occurred in May of 2016. Typical injuries from e-cigarette explosions include cuts, burns, lacerations, and in extreme cases visual impairment, blindness, and or severed fingers and limbs.
