As E-Cigarette Explosion Reports Increase, Brooklyn Boy Files E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit After Sustaining Severe Injuries
July 05, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on the increased number of reported e-cigarette explosions since 2009. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has reported that there have been at least 25 e-cig incidences reported around the country since the devices became available to consumers. It is believed that this number of reported incidences is on the low side due to the possibility of many explosions not being reported to authorities since they were not significantly damaging.
Incidences of exploding e-cigs have not been unlike that which happened to a 14-year old boy in Brooklyn while shopping in the Kings Plaza Mall. According to PIX11.com, the boy suffered a loss of vision in one eye due to his cornea being scratched and also suffered damage from burns to his hands that will most likely be permanent.
The boy stated the retail shop owner was showing him various vaporizer products and while he was holding one it exploded in his hands and face. Not only is the incident serious in terms of the very damaging explosion, state and local laws also prohibit the sale of any type of tobacco products to minors, which the shop owner clearly was disregarding since the boy was marketed to as he entered the mall.
The father has sought out legal representation to seek damages for his son who is now physically impaired and will suffer consequences of the explosion for the rest of his life. A few months before the Brooklyn episode an explosion occurred in Arizona. A motorist stated that while driving, his lower body became consumed in flames, as 2 e-cigarette batteries, he was carrying in his pocket exploded. While the motorist was very lucky to have escaped the incident, he still suffered significant burns on both his legs and hands.
