XBiotech, Inc. (NASDAQ: XBIT) The company is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, engages in discovering and developing True Human monoclonal antibodies for treating various diseases.

Shares of XBIT dropped over 32% yesterday after presenting phase 3 clinical trial results for its colon-cancer drug Xilonix at the 18th European Society of Medical Oncology World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer on Saturday.

The company used an unconventional method to evaluate its cancer-fighting abilities, which raised questions about any potential benefits for the drug. While their method resulted in statistically significant results, they were largely ignored due to the obscurity of the evaluation.

Birks Group Inc. (NYSE: BGI) The company designs, develops, makes, and retails fine jewelry, timepieces, sterling silver, and gifts in the United States and Canada.

Shares of BGI closed up yesterday by over 431% off massive volume after announcing a turnaround in fiscal year 2016. The company improved its net income for the year by $14.0 million over last year, from a net loss of $8.6 million to a net income of $5.4 million this year. Sales increased by over 3% as well.

Shares surged on the news and held onto most of its gains through out the day.

Jean-Christophe Bédos, President and CEO of BGI attributes the turnaround to “a year of restructuring our Company’s operations, the main factors that contributed to our success in fiscal 2016 included our continued dedication to enhancing customer experiences via our new store designs, the successful launch of our new collections and our creative marketing campaigns.”

As more eyes see BGI’s gains, expect more volume to pour into this stock for the rest of the week.

Pershing Gold Corporation (OTC: PGLC) The company engages in the exploration, development, and mining of gold and precious metals primarily in Nevada.

Shares of PGLC have been benefiting from some insider trading on top of gaining momentum from the recent surge in gold prices. The stock has been moving in the right direction, up about 25% in the past 6 months and with a market cap of $113 million and an enterprise value of $95 million.

This cash rich company, with a balance sheet of $14.31 million and a total debt of just $10,900 has positioned itself well to benefit from the rise in gold prices and is a great small cap gold play moving forward.

Great Panther Silver Ltd (NYSE: GPL) The company is a silver mining and exploration company, engages in the mining of mineral properties in Mexico. It explores for silver, gold, lead, and zinc.

Like most Precious Metal companies, GPL greatly benefitted from the Brexit referendum result. However, shares of GPL have been on an excellent trajectory for the past 6 months with only a couple of pullbacks in their trend upwards.

After a recent cool off, expect to see GPL to, yet again, continue its trend upwards as uncertainty continues to plague the markets and traders continue to move their money into safer precious metal plays.
