Personal Injury Lawyer Comments On Lawsuit Filed Against Construction Company

July 20, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman made a comment recently regarding a Smith County woman’s lawsuit against a Houston construction company that she claims is responsible for her injuries. Moverman stated that the incident is a reminder that precautions and standards for construction sites are put in place not only for the safety of workers but for passersby as well.

The SE Texas Record reported in June that a woman filed a lawsuit against Turner Construction in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas on June 23. The suit alleged that the corporation was negligent in failing to comply with the construction industry safety rules and regulations. The woman had been a passenger on a motorcycle when part of a fence from the nearby construction site flew onto the road, knocking her off the motorcycle and causing injuries.

Construction site injuries are a significant concern, not only for today’s workers, but for anyone who comes across a construction site. The OSHA reported that more than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry. The most common forms of injury in the construction business include slips, trips, and falls. These types of accidents in addition to electrocution and being stuck between objects or struck by them, accounted for over half of construction worker deaths in 2014, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. The firm is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation. They have successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believe in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding.

“Most of these actions help to make our environment and the workplace safer so that others will not have to endure these painful losses,” said Moverman of the firm’s work.
