As The Number Of E-Cig Explosions Increases, Potential E-Cigarette Explosion Lawsuit Cases Occur In California

July 20, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on an e-cigarette explosion as per a news story by PasoRoblesDailyNews.com. The news outlet stated that a 17-year old boy was driving in his car with some friends when the e-cig he was using exploded in his face. The explosion caused physical damage to both the boy’s car and to him, as it cracked a car window, knocked out some of the boy’s teeth, and punctured a hole in his tongue. The incident happened on the 1900 block of Cottonwood Road. When emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene the victim was transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital. When he arrived at the hospital he was then airlifted to Fresno Medical Center to be treated for his burns in the medical facility’s burn unit.

Attorney Marc Freund of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman made mention of this incident that occurred in late April. Attorney Freund has extended his best wishes to the teenager and hopes he makes a full recovery from his injuries. He stated that he is always disheartened when such incidents occur and involve underage smokers since they should not be able to purchase and use e-cig devices in the first place.

During the last 2.5 years, incidents such as that which happened to the teenager have become much more prevalent as per a detailed timeline developed by TheProductLawyers.com.

Additionally, the rate at which these explosions have occurred has increased dramatically in 2016 alone. 162 explosions have been reported since 2014. 85 of these have taken place in 2014 and 2015, with 77 incidents happening in 2016 already. It should be noted that California leads any other state in the number of explosions since 2009. The state has had 19 reported cases which represent 15 percent of all e-cig explosions that have happened up to this point in time.
