Safety Reforms Encouraged By Personal Injury Lawyer, After Two Construction Workers Are Injured At Doak Campbell Stadium

July 23, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) conclusions regarding work conditions and injuries suffered on the job in 2014. The BLS states that almost 3 million workers suffered illness or experienced non-fatal injuries while performing their job-related duties. The BLS estimates that 1 in 3 injured workers missed, at a minimum, one day of work. Of those that did miss work that resulted from non-fatal injuries were not on the job for an average of 9 days. The BLS also has documented that of the 5,000 work related deaths in the country that occurred in 2014, 20 percent of those fatalities were construction workers.

One example of a work-related incident was reported by WCTV.com. As per a statement by a Major in the Florida State University Police force, 2 workers were injured on June 13th when material on an elevated surface unexpectedly fell to the ground. The employees were working on a construction project at Doak Campbell Stadium in Florida, which is the home of the Florida State Seminoles Football Team. The stadium had been under construction for almost 9 months. Luckily, the 2 workers did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Attorney Thomas Moverman of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus, & Moverman, stated that this accident is just another example of the great need for better worker safety standards. Furthermore, he added that until the Occupational Safety & and Health Administration begins to coordinate efforts with other federal regulating agencies, there will continue to be unnecessary accidents among construction workers, who are the most at-risk group of workers in the country.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman have been representing victims of construction accidents for years. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding. The firm has successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believes in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident and qualifying individuals may be entitled to financial compensation.
