Number Of Potential E-Cig Explosion Lawsuit Filings Rises, As California Victim Loses Eye In E-Cigarette Explosion

The timeline identifies 19 reported e-cigarette explosions in the state. This represents 10 percent of all the verified e-cigarette explosions that have happened up to the present time.

One of the 19 explosions took place in Orange County on April 15th when a man’s e-cig exploded while he was using it, propelling debris toward the victim’s head. According to NBC Los Angeles, as a result of the explosion the man lost his left eye and also broke his orbital and sinus bones. The victim is hopeful that the permanent vision loss he sustained and his experience will increase public awareness, especially among e-cig users, of the dangers and risks associated with using the devices.

It was not long after this explosion that Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill to increase the state’s smoking age from 18 to 21. This would prohibit anyone under the age of 21 from buying tobacco products to smoke, vape, and chew.
