Personal Injury Lawyer Urges Teens To Reference National Consumers League List Of The 5 Most Dangerous Summer Jobs for Teenagers

July 25, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on the National Consumers League’s (NCL) annual update of the 5 most dangerous summer jobs for teenagers. The NCL issues this annual list to inform parents and teens about the best and safest job options for summer work. The NCL reports that construction and height work is listed in the top 5 most dangerous summer jobs for teenagers. Such jobs are considered more dangerous for teenagers since they tend to be less experienced than the more seasoned workers.

Thomas Moverman of LipsigLawyers.com addressed the NCL’s update of the 5 most dangerous summer jobs for teenagers, that also encompassed construction jobs. Attorney Moverman continues to encourage federal regulating agencies, such as the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), to update safety rules and regulations as well as adding to already existing safety procedures.

The health and safety of nearly 130 million workers in the country are under the jurisdiction of OSHA, a federally mandated agency. OSHA is comprised of 10 regional offices along with 90 offices situated in local jurisdictions. OSHA has reported that in 2014, nearly 20 percent of the nation’s work-related fatalities were in the construction trades which equates to almost 900 fatalities.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has addressed the “Fatal Four” and the number of workers that have died from them. The “Fatal Four” includes falls, electrocutions, individuals being struck by objects or being caught between equipment or objects. OSHA has concluded that 58 percent of work-related fatalities can be attributed to the “Fatal Four.” In 2014, the leading cause of death was due to falls, making up almost 40 percent of all construction worker deaths, taking the lives of 350 workers.
