Queens Woman Severely Injured In E-Cigarette Explosion, As E-Cigarette Lawsuit Cases Publicized
July 28, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com reports on data provided by TheProductLawyers.com regarding the increase in the frequency of explosions of e-cigarettes since the devices became available to consumers. TheProductLawyers.com states there has been a total of 199 such explosions.
One such incident, as reported by the NY Daily News, involves a 26-year old Richmond Hill, Queens woman who sustained 3rd-degree burns when her e-cigarette exploded in her pocket while she was driving her car. The debris from the exploding device was projected so forcefully that it became lodged into the dashboard of her automobile. According to the article, after the explosion, the woman was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Since the explosion, the Queens woman has been unable to work and cannot walk without the assistance of a cane. She has since hired Attorney Marc Freund of Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman to represent her in her legal proceedings against the manufacturer of the device and the retailer that sold her the unit.
The Queens e-cigarette explosion is 1 of 7 such incidences that have occurred in New York since 2009. Attorney Freund hopes that the victim makes a complete recovery from her injuries. He stated that the alarming increase in the frequency of e-cig-related explosions is very disconcerting.
In addition to the Queens explosion victim, Attorney Freund is also representing a 14-year old Brooklyn boy who sustained injuries from an exploding e-cigarette while testing out the device at a local mall. When the unit allegedly exploded in the teen’s face and caused severe burns to his hands as well as the loss of eyesight in his left eye. The boy’s father retained the services of Attorney Freund on behalf of his son. This case is currently on-going.
