OSHA Investigates Crane Accident, Prompting Comment From Personal Injury Lawyer

Moverman noted that although no injuries were mentioned in the incident, the dangerous conditions created by the accident should be thoroughly investigated.
Wicked Local reported that federal investigators are still looking into an accident on Brainard Avenue after a 150-foot crane toppled onto its roof, spilling hydraulic and diesel fuel. In addition to the OSHA’s investigation into the safety measures taken before the accident, the Department of Environmental Protection is also investigating to look into exactly how much fuel was spilled. Reports indicate that the amount of fuel was under the reportable 10 gallons.
More than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and that one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Injuries such as lacerations, bruising, broken or fractured bones and sometimes spinal or brain injuries can often be a result of these accidents as well.
