Apple Valley Man Injured In E-Cigarette Explosion, As E-Cig Explosion Lawsuit Case Number Rises

July 31, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com‘s Attorney Marc Freund commented on a recent e-cig explosion that occurred in Apple Valley, California. A man sustained severe facial injuries on June 22nd when his e-cig exploded while he was using it. As per a report from VVNG.com, the man had to be airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center after he called for emergency assistance. Also as per VVNG.com, a local police sergeant stated that his office receives on average one similar call each week. Attorney Freund stated that he hopes the man recovers fully from his injuries and that he should pursue legal action for compensatory damages. Freund also stated that consumers need to be made aware of the potential risks involved with smoking e-cigs.

As per TheProductLawyers.com, this particular incident is the 20th e-cig explosion in the state of California, as well as the 200th reported case to date. The state also has the highest incidence of e-cig-related explosions in the country.

Additionally, the June 22nd explosion is the 134th one that has occurred in the United States, 59 of which have happened on the west coast, which equates to 30 percent of the global e-cigarette incidences reported up to the present time. The Apple Valley episode is also the 78th explosion to happen this year, making 2016 on track to exceed the combined total of those reported in 2014 and 2015 combined, 38 and 47, respectively, for a total of 85 cases.

It should be noted that earlier in 2016, a woman from Los Angeles suffered 2nd and 3rd-degree burns when her e-cig exploded while it was charging in her car. She was ultimately awarded $1,900,000 in compensatory damages for the injuries she sustained in the explosion.
