Four States See Eight New Talcum Powder Lawsuit Filings
October 27, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on newly filed lawsuits in four different states concerning talcum powder.
HarrisMartin Publishing stated in an article that eight new lawsuits have been filed in federal court including five that were filed in Louisiana federal courts. Others were also filed in states including Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Alabama. The suits are claiming that a link exists between talcum powder and ovarian cancer and that companies marketing the powders should be held responsible.
Johnson & Johnson has recently become entangled in a number of lawsuits concerning their talcum powder products and their alleged link to ovarian cancer. Over the last 45 years numerous studies have found that women who use baby powder as a feminine hygiene product are more likely to develop ovarian cancer.
Thousands of women in the U.S. have made claims alleging that Johnson & Johnson hid valuable medical information that prevented consumers from knowing the dangers of using the powders. Those plaintiffs further claim that the use of Johnson & Johnson’s powders as a feminine hygiene product are directly linked to ovarian cancer. Johnson & Johnson has denied claims that their products cause cancer and has stated that no link exists between the two.
