Missouri Court Moves Talcum Powder Lawsuit Proceedings Back To July 2017

November 18, 2016 – – TheProductLawyers.com reports on a recent motion to move proceedings in Missouri for talcum powder lawsuits back to July 10, 2017.

According to HarrisMartin Publishing, “a Missouri state court that had moved up a talcum powder trial date by sua sponte order earlier this year has granted a motion to continue the trial, now slating it for a July 10 setting.” After plaintiffs moved that the Feb. 6 trial be continued, the Missouri Circuit Court for St. Louis granted the motion, pushing the date back to July 10.

Talcum powder’s alleged link to ovarian cancer has been the source of many lawsuits that have been filed against Johnson & Johnson. The lawsuits, which now reach over 2,000 in number suggest that plaintiffs have used their powders and subsequently developed the deadly disease. Plaintiffs argue that the company should be held responsible for charges including fraud and negligence for failing to warn consumers about these alleged risks.

Johnson & Johnson has denied such claims, stating that their products were developed by “following the science” and that no such link exists. Juries, however, have found that the pharmaceutical giant should be held responsible and the company has been made to pay millions in the three trials that have since concluded. Johnson & Johnson is looking to appeal those decisions.

As these lawsuits are expected to grow in numbers, Banville Law is seeking to help those currently suffering. The firm has many years of experience fighting large pharmaceutical companies who have put dangerous drugs and devices onto the market, foregoing public safety for corporate greed.
