Startup Housli Launches Booking Platform For Affordable Rooms & Apartments For Rent

Housli has created a new online booking platform that helps hosts and renters connect for less, disrupting both short and long term lets with the latest convenient features.

New York, United States – December 22, 2016 /MarketersMedia/ —

Housli is a new entrant in the rental sharing economy and vacation rental space, hoping to give renters and hosts more options with fewer fees. With both short-term and long-term rooms for rent and apartments for rent listed on the platform, Housli targets a wide range of potential renters, from vacationers, to students, to business travelers. The new rental platform aspires to be a key alternative in the vacation rental and sharing economy space, going up against large established platforms such as Airbnb and Homeaway.

Unlike its competitors however, Housli is completely free for hosts. Recently Homeaway, the popular vacation rental platform, added a controversial traveler’s fee. This upset many of their hosts, who already pay hundreds of dollars in annual advertising fees on the platform.

“We just don’t believe hosts should have to pay any fees. Hosts are the ones who choose the platforms they list on,” said Georgios Mourdoukoutas, Housli’s Founder and CEO.

While keeping hosts happy, Housli also aims to provide more affordable long-term options for students and professionals. Renters are able to book long-term accommodation on the platform before they move to a new city.

Georgios explains that, “The problem with moving to a new city is that you may have no one there to verify apartments and rooms to rent for you, or protect your payment. We handle that, so our users can be confident they won’t be duped.”
According to new research from Mayflower, 59% of 18- to 35-year-olds currently live in a city other than their hometown, and nearly 80% have moved at some point in their lives. With millennials on the move, there may be demand for platforms that ease the transition process.

Of course, the rise of rental sharing economy platforms has not been without controversy, with New York recently passing a bill to ban short-term rental apartments within the state. As other states look to follow suit, this will doubtless make Housli’s provision of long term options even more attractive to hosts.

Despite regulations, market forces may dictate that the sharing economy is here to stay, with rising rents outpacing wages in many major US cities, many renters look to the sharing economy as a way to save money. On the flipside, hosts look to the sharing economy as an additional income stream to be able to pay their rent or mortgage.

About Housli: Housli offers property owners the ultimate way to maximize the revenue on their properties while cutting out much of the hassle. Prospective renters can quickly request to book accommodation online, based on location and availability. All listings are manually reviewed to maintain the highest quality, and both renters and hosts are rated and moderated.
