Rypien Excited to Participate in Diamond Resorts Invitational(TM)

Former Super Bowl MVP and prominent celebrity golfer Mark Rypien sits down to discuss the newly-minted Diamond Resorts Invitational PGA TOUR Champions-sanctioned tournament January 13-15, 2017 on Golf Channel

ORLANDO, FL / ACCESSWIRE / December 30, 2016 / Mark Rypien has been golfing in celebrity events since 1990 when he won the inaugural American Century Celebrity Championship in Lake Tahoe. This year, he’ll be part of the celebrity field for the second time at the Diamond Resorts Invitational™ in Orlando, a new addition to the PGA TOUR Champions schedule for 2017.

In a recent interview, Mark talked about why he likes the event so much – “It’s a cool concept. It’s a group of guys I grew up watching play golf. The concept is to put a couple of celebrities with the (PGA TOUR) senior players and have some fun and raise some great money for Florida Hospital For Children.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion and Pro-Bowler was excited to hear that a lot of his ‘old buddies’ would be joining him in the field this year. “Emmitt Smith … Jerry Rice… Richard Dent … [and] Marcus Allen are going to play on the football side. On the baseball side
we’ve got Josh Donaldson, Justin Verlander, Josh Beckett, Roger Clemens. A lot of the guys are going to be there and not only tell some great fishing stories, but hopefully play some good golf as well.”

It isn’t just the golf that has Rypien circling January 13-15, 2017 on his calendar. This year the Diamond Resorts Invitational™ boasts an outstanding entertainment lineup of Jake Owen, Colt Ford, Jana Kramer and Cole Swindell in concert. Rypien added: “There will be some great concerts as well. Hopefully, we’ll all play some good golf and really enjoy a wonderful event that Diamond Resorts has put on. Hopefully [the tournament] will become a staple for the (PGA TOUR) senior players and an opportunity to continue to raise money for a great cause.”
