Sattiraju Law Firm, PC Announces Winner of 2016 Employment Law Scholarship

Ravi Sattiraju of the Sattiraju Law Firm, PC has announced the winner of the firm’s 2016 Employment Law Scholarship. This year’s winner is Taneska Jones of Shepherd, Texas. Jones was selected from among more than 50 applicants nationwide. While all law students were encouraged to apply for this award, special consideration was given to those focusing their studies on employment law or who were immediately related to truck drivers classified as independent contractors.

A third-year student at the University of Houston Law Center, Jones graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She is currently a member of the University of Houston Law Center’s Moot Court team as well as its Journal for Consumer and Commercial Law board. At the same time, she serves as a Student Mediator with the university’s Mediation Clinic.

Jones served as a litigation paralegal clerk at a Houston firm before entering law school. Previously, she held a number of distinctive internships during which she worked with the Honorable Frances H. Stacy of the U.S. Southern District of Texas, the Texas Office of the Attorney General and the University of Houston’s Office of the General Counsel along with two additional firms centered on employment and personal injury law. Furthermore, Jones volunteers and mentors with the Black Law Students Association

Following law school, Jones intends to practice labor and employment law with aspirations of working as a judicial law clerk. Her career goals include providing pro bono legal services and promoting diversity and mentorship programs. The $1,000 Sattiraju Law Firm Employment Law Scholarship will be paid directly to the University of Houston.
