Sydney Shopping Centres Set To Brace for Winter Conditions

Sydney is feeling the harsh affects of autumn with wild weather lashing much of the state. Areas such as the North West and Northern Beaches have been hit hard with storms bringing large hail, rain and heavy winds.

For many residents and local shopping centres this has been a big shock after battling through one of the hottest summers ever recorded. As part of the season changeover shopping centre management across the state will start to check systems and centre roofing to ensure a warm and comfortable environment that shoppers will easily be able to spend a few hours in.

As seen in previous years, shopping centres see a large increase in impulse-buying with items such as clothes, electronics and shoes selling quickly during unsavoury weather. Without the proper indoor conditions shoppers will move on to other places seeking warmer settings.

Later than normal hot conditions has meant stores have held onto summer items longer with turnover slowing. With the arrival of colder conditions sales are expected to pick up with shoppers indulging in winter items, particularly clothing.
