Red Carpet Mosquito Control Reports on the Dangers of the Zika Virus

Greenwich, CT – May 3, 2017 /MarketersMedia/

Between February 15, 2016 and April 19, 2017, 113 individuals in Connecticut tested positive for the Zika Virus. Of these individuals, six were pregnant at the time of testing. This is of great concern, as the Zika Virus can lead to microcephaly in the unborn child, and this may lead to speech, movement and growth delays in the child along with mental retardation. As a result, the CDC recommends that homeowners take preventative measures to ensure mosquitoes do not breed around the home.

“Every person needs to be concerned about mosquito control, not just women who are pregnant. Although 80 percent of individuals show no signs of the virus, complications may arise. Internal bleeding is of concern, and researchers believe the virus may be linked to a rise in Guillain-Barre syndrome. As there is no treatment at this time for the infection, prevention remains key,” Chris Zawadzki, spokesperson for Red Carpet Mosquito Control, explains.

People often assume they are safe from the Zika virus if they don’t travel abroad. Although it is true people likely don’t bring infected mosquitoes back with them when traveling, there are other ways the disease may be transmitted. This includes through sexual activity and through the bite of a mosquito who has fed on an infected person. For this reason, everyone must be aware of this disease, its risks and how to prevent it.

“Mosquitoes carrying the Zika virus have been identified in Florida, and they may be present in other states in the country. In fact, slightly less than 4,000 individuals have been diagnosed with travel-associated Zika in the United States. In contrast, more than 28,000 cases have been identified in United States territories that were contracted locally. As a result, mosquito control Darien is essential.

The Zika virus isn’t the only health concern associated with mosquito control in Westchester. Some species transmit West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis and other diseases. Furthermore, pets are susceptible to certain diseases when bitten by a mosquito. For example, some species transmit heartworm, which can be deadly to a dog over time.

“Individuals should always take precautions to avoid contracting the Zika Virus. As a method of mosquito control in Darien, the CDC recommends people use a mosquito repellent whenever they will be outdoors. This repellent should contain IR3535, oil of lemon-eucalyptus, picaridin or a minimum of 20 percent DEET and be worn all day. Mosquitoes tend to be most active at dawn and dusk, thus a person should never be without a repellent at these times especially. With proper safety measures and a mosquito control Westchester plan, people can go about their day knowing they are protected from this serious virus,” Zawadzki states.
