According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 22.7 percent of US adults, i.e. around 54.4 million, annually had been doctor-diagnosed with some form of arthritis.

Arthritis’ refers to joint pain or disease, it is not a disease in itself, as there are around one hundred types of arthritis and conditions related to it. Although it is very common, it is often misunderstood. It is the number one cause of disability in the nation, as more than 50 million adults from all ages, genders, and races have it, although it is most common amongst women and happens more frequently as they get older. Children are not immune to it either, around 300,000 children in the US have some type of arthritis.

There are many ways to treat Arthritis and there several options patients can consider. There are some medications and surgeries that can help, in addition to some natural treatments that can support the health and help ease the pain caused by arthritis. One of the safest options might be simply using a walk-in tub. Most walk-in tubs are designed with dual hydro massage and air bubble jets that are placed strategically in order to target sore muscles and joints in the legs and back, in addition to chromotherapy and aromatherapy.

Simply using warm water is proven to effectively treat and ease the pains of joints, and has been used as therapy for many years. This is what is now called hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy increases blood flow directed at the sore tissue, eventually making stiff joints feel more at ease.

While hydrotherapy works with water and air, chromotherapy works with light. A study titled ‘A Critical Analysis of Chromotherapy and Its Scientific Evolution’ that was conducted in 2005 had the following findings; “Physiologically, affective responses of subjects revealed that warm colors were useful in arousing those troubled with reactive depression or neurasthenia. They increased muscle tone or blood pressure in hypertensive individuals. Cool colors elicited the reverse affective responses in all of the same tests. Anxious subjects were actually calmed by these cooler colors, from the viewpoint of clinical psychology.” In other words, It is a method of using colors from the visible light spectrum to treat or cure diseases.

Walk-in tubs usually have colors in the form of LED lights that sit on the sides and floor of its basin to create the desired psychological effect by the push of a button. Warm colors are stimulants that increase blood pressure and hypertension, as well as muscle tone and breath rates, while cool colors act as relaxing agents that relieve tension, soothe muscles, lower the rate of breathing.
