Jeff Ifrah Approached by Legal Bisnow for Litigation Questionnaire
Legal Bisnow asked renown lawyers a series of questions aimed at finding out about their first jobs.
WASHINGTON, DC – June 14, 2017 /MarketersMedia/ —
Legal Bisnow is based in Washington DC that publishes email newsletters across twenty-one US markets such as Boston, Chicago, Houston, LA, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle or Washington, DC and produces local business events. The digital media company recently published questionnaires aimed at finding out about the first jobs of a selected group of renowned lawyers from the Washington area. The first job question is not only a solid conversation opener at a dinner party where the host is the only person in the room you know, it actually gives you some interesting insight into somebody’s professional background in order to see where they are coming from – and where they are now. The idea behind Bisnow asking these renown lawyers such a question? Nobody is born a litigator. So what made them the successful lawyer they are today?
The answers to this question were as diverse as they were interesting: Keith Wetmore worked in a funeral parlor in Indiana, owned by his parents, in his opinion an “honorable profession”. Benson Legg worked on the maintenance crew at the docks where he would earn his money jackhammering asphalt, tarring roofs, mixing cement, and cleaning up. And Phil Hampton worked as an assistant in the Meteorology Department at the University of Maryland, hoping to unlock the secrets of radioactivity.
Amongst the attorneys Bisnow approached with this question is Jeff Ifrah, founding member of Ifrah Law Firm, a Washington DC-based law firm specializing in the defense of government investigations and litigation. Ifrah revealed to Bisnow that he always wanted to be a teacher. So after graduating from college, he took a job as a seventh grade teacher at a middle school in Toronto. It does not come as a surprise that it turned out to be a challenging task, but he nevertheless loved every minute. “The paycheck?” Ifrah says, “not so much.” Recently, a former student sent him a book he published. Maybe it took 20 years to appreciate this, he tells us, but he also found teaching to be rewarding.
Jeff Ifrah’s dedication to work for and with people is still reflected in his work as an attorney today. He is an advocate keenly focused on delivering results for his clients – on understanding the problems they face and developing innovative strategies to resolve them. He cut his teeth as a trial lawyer and officer in the U.S. Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps and as trial counsel to the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth. Ifrah then gained invaluable experience as a special assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Jersey. He went on to become of counsel to the global law firm Paul Hastings and then a shareholder in the litigation department of another global firm, Greenberg Traurig. Chambers USA has recognized Jeff for three years in a row as one of America’s leading lawyers for litigation in the areas of White Collar Crime and Government Investigations. The previous co-chair of two key ABA white collar subcommittees, Ifrah has also been recognized by LexisNexis as an expert in healthcare and securities fraud. Nightingale’s Healthcare News named him one of 12 outstanding fraud and compliance lawyers in the United States.
