Ohio children’s author Laura Ceville has just completed her second sprint triathlon on Sunday 9 July at Caesar Creek State Park in Waynesville, Ohio. She placed eighth in her age category (female, 35-39) with an overall time of 1:32:34. Now she’s looking ahead to her next race in September, before moving on to the greatest challenge of all, the Ironman competition.

Laura will be competing in the OIympic distance, which is twice the distance of a sprint triathlon like she completed on Sunday, with a 1,500 meter swim, a 25 mile bike ride, and 10k run. For the challenge, she is continuing to work with her coach, Don Scarpero, of DCS Endurance Coaching.

Coach Scarpero is a USAT certified triathlon coach, an ASCA certified swimming coach, and a healthy running certified coach, and will be working closely with Laura to ensure that she continues to improve her fitness in her quest to conquer the Ironman test.

The upcoming race, called the Great Buckeye Challenge, will take place on 10 September at Buck Creek State Park in Springfield, Ohio, where Laura will seek to set a new marker and transition into the next stage of her training for the Ironman.

The Ironman World Championship will take place in October 2019, the year in which Laura turns 40, where she will push herself to the limit against some of the best athletes in the world. It will be held in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

After her last race, Laura said: “I am excited about my progress. I improved my bike, run and transition times and I look forward to completing my first OIympic distance triathlon in September.”

Laura came to the United States at a young age, after being born in Panama City, Panama. It was while growing up in the United States that she fell in love with the English language and developed a love of writing. She published her first book, My Dog, Jack, in 2013, and has a number of other stories available on Amazon.
