Born and raised in Calgary, Dr. Cristy Franco received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Animal Biology from the University of Calgary. Her graduate studies at the University of Waterloo in Ontario culminated in the awarding of a Doctor of Optometry degree with honors. Along the way, Dr. Franco took part in volunteer trips to Mexico, Moldova, and Romania to provide eye care to people who otherwise lacked access.

Also a native of Calgary, Dr. Chelsea Gerlitz graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree before graduating with honors as a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Gerlitz served on a VOSH International eye care mission in Belize and is an active volunteer with the Calgary Urban Project Society, an organization devoted to providing health care services to families in the area facing financial barriers.
