London X City Tackles Long-Term Impact Of Being A Professional Athlete On The Body
October 20, 2017 – – London is a fascinating city, which is why online magazine London X City has aimed to focus on it. Meanwhile, as a lifestyle and fashion magazine, they are now ready to push beyond the boundaries of London alone, offering information that is of interest to people all over the world. They have now announced that they have started to write informative articles about the long term effects of being a professional athlete on the body.
Karla, editor at London X City, says: “Since the London Olympics and subsequent Paralympics, and because London is such an athletic city anyway, we have gained a greater interest in what it actually means to be a professional athlete. We hope that our series of articles will be beneficial for people to help them achieve greater overall health.”
There is a strong focus, globally, on encouraging people take part in more physical activity. However, it is now known that there is also such a thing as too much. Professional athletes are physically very fit, but they are also at far greater risk of injury, simply due to the nature of their profession. Additionally, once they retire from professional sports, they often have to deal with significant problems. These will all be discussed on londonxcity.com.
“Imagine someone like Andy Murray, who spends about eight hours a day on the tennis courts,” says Karla. “When he retires, which is likely to be when he is still quite young by regular standards, he will suddenly stop doing that. It is vital that he look after his body properly so that he doesn’t become unfit very rapidly.”
Professional athletes have very different needs in terms of keeping their body healthy. They also have to eat a diet that is rich in carbohydrates, something that they have to change if they are ever out of circulation for some time, for instance following an injury. This, too, will be addressed on the London X City website at https://www.londonxcity.com. The series of articles is set to be a very interesting one that really explains the impact of being a professional athlete on a person’s health for the long-term.
