Intrafocus introduces a 5-Step Strategy Scorecard
October 24, 2017 – Intrafocus has developed a 5-step process to build a Strategy Scorecard. The process is based on the well established Balanced Scorecard methodology which it breaks down into five easy to understand steps. Starting with a reasonable assumption that most organisations will already have a vision in place, the process starts by looking at how to break the vision down into three strategic priorities.
“It is easy to build a strategy scorecard that contains a wish list of everything you might aspire to as an organisation,” says Clive Keyte, Director at Intrafocus “but that will not result in a successful strategy that can be implemented. The key is to focus on no more than three things in any one year. That way you can prioritise your budget and really get things done.”
Keyte goes on to explain how long-term projects can be accommodated; “One of your focus items might be a long-term project that appears in the plan for three or five years in a row,” he says, “that’s fine. Just be sure to get the balance right. Both quick-wins and long-term projects are required.”
The 5-step process has been developed through decades of activity in the field looking at what succeeds and what does not. The foundation methodology, the Balanced Scorecard, has been around for more than 20 years and has been refined and refined again. There is no doubt that it is an industry standard methodology that works.
What Intrafocus has added into the mix is a training programme combined with a world-class software package that can underpin and manage not only the scorecard building process but the long-term management of strategic objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The KPI software Intrafocus uses is Scoreboard. The software has been around for over fifteen years and was given a new interface as well as full mobile capability at the end of last year. The software is used by both large and small organisations.
