Orange County Midwife Offers Breast Feeding 101 Class

Lorri Walker and staff at South Coast Midwifery & Women’s Health Care are offering a Breastfeeding 101 Class to expecting mothers.

Irvine, United States – January 30, 2018 /PressCable/

Many expecting mothers in South Orange County have the desire to breastfeed. In a society where people are trying to lead and live healthier lives it’s no surprise that many mothers-to-be also plan to try and have their babies start out with what many refer to as “liquid gold” (colostrum and breast milk).

To facilitate Mama’s-to-be in their breastfeeding goals, Lorri Walker, Founder and Director of South Coast Midwifery & Women’s Health Care, is offering a Breastfeeding 101 class to those in the South Orange County, Irvine and 92603 areas.

This class is being offered to South Coast Midwifery Clients for free but is available to all others for $35 (availability is limited – contact their office directly at: info@southcoastmidwifery.com to reserve a seat). This class is a hands-on and engaging class that is taught to help an expecting mother and her partner learn the ins-and-outs of breastfeeding while pregnant so one can learn the importance of the first 24 hours, tips and tools for positioning and latch, pumping essentials, milk storage, and so much more! Partners are encouraged to attend as it is quite difficult to breastfeed if not supported by one’s partner and family.

Per the 2016 Breastfeeding Report Card released by the CDC; of all the babies born in 2013 in the United States 4 out of 5 started out breastfeeding (81.1%). So, it is evident that most want to try and have some breastfeeding happen. However, the report showed that at 6 months of age only half (51.8%) were still breast feeding, and at 12 months that decreased to less than 1/3 (30.7%). Lorri and her team at South Coast Midwifery know that breastfeeding for some is a challenge so they are offering this class as a way to ease worries and help get the basics tips and tools for having a successful breastfeeding experience.
