Hailing from Philadelphia and now based in Maui, Hawaii for several decades Jimmy C’s eclectic, drumming style is the product of years of experience in a wide-ranging array of musical settings originating with his first gig in a Philadelphia jazz trio as a teenager, to performing Jazz-fusion, Dixie-cowboy, Philly doo-wop, Jersey shore sweat-bang; and 42 years of rock and roll history. Jimmy got his start when as a child growing up in the 50s he watched the Mickey Mouse Club on TV, and his mom gave him a bongo drum – inspired by the admiring looks Cubby got from the rest of the Mouseketeers when he played his drum set. When the Beatles emerged in the mid 1960s, Jimmy C. and his group “The Effects” captured the Liverpool sound and style of the Fab Four and achieved modest success playing clubs, concerts and colleges on the East Coast. Eventually, Jimmy C. opened for Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Sha-Na-Na and others. When the opportunity arose to open for Elvin Bishop in Hawaii, Jimmy C. took the gig and has remained in Hawaii ever since – where he has performed everything from hotel gigs, Dixieland in ballrooms, Country and Western on the beach, oldies at proms and more.
