Nomics — whose mission is to grow the decentralized financial system by making it accessible and understandable to investors — intends to become internet’s home page for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies.
The company recently launched a cryptocurrency market capitalization portal, along with an index of market rankings, charts, all-time high and supply data. They also display the latest pricing, circulation, and all-time high data for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Bitcoin Cash and today’s largest cryptocurrencies and coins/tokens.
According to Nomics CEO Clay Collins, the current dashboard represents just one-seventh of the eventual cryptocurrency portal. “There’s a lot more coming, and it is going to be tens of thousands of pages deep…we are indexing the entire cryptosphere,” says Collins. “In the next few months, we’ll be launching pages for each currency and currency pair, along with analytics on every exchange.” He also adds with a smile “we also have a few tricks up our sleeve that we’re not willing to talk about just yet.”
“For professional investors,” he says, “Like hedge funds, institutions, VCs, Family Offices, etc. – we’re going to offer a paid API that provides historical data that goes to the beginning, complete with SLA grade support and uptime guarantees.” “There’s plenty of other places to get what you’ll see on the surface of Nomics, but as far as that deep, consistent data, the marketplace is surprisingly horrific.”
With over 2 billion trades currently indexed in its database, Nomics’ REST and WebSocket JSON API “aspires to be the data backbone for developers and professional cryptoinvestors” says Collins. “Our product roadmap revolves around a ‘Triple A’ feature set: our core product archives, aggregates, and analyzes both on- and off-blockchain cryptoasset data relevant to investors and traders.” The Nomics API will provide: (1) all trades and orders on 30+ cryptocurrency exchanges (including historical trade data) behind one API, (2) candlestick data for any time period, (3) real-time and historical trade and order data, (4) price, market cap, supply, and all-time high data, (5) world class API documentation, and service level agreements (SLAs) with uptime and response time guarantees, (6) Zapier and IFTTT integrations, and (7) OpenAPI Specification and SDKs in many languages, such as JavaScript, Java, Go, Ruby, R, and C#.
Given that retail investors have historically been the primary source of cryptocurrency investment interest, there’s a surprising lack of professional grade financial data products for crypto investors. Unlike most asset classes which originated from financial centers like Wall Street, cryptocurrencies have grassroots origins and have gradually worked their way up the institutional ladder. The professionalization of data products in the space is correlated with up-market and institutional interest in cryptoassets, and Nomic’s roadmap is in-step with this trend.
