City of Atlanta and Mobility Insight Announces the Implementation of an Intelligent Mobility Management System

ATLANTA, GA / ACCESSWIRE / March 21, 2018 / The City of Atlanta and Mobility Insight (“Mobi”) have announced Atlanta as the first US city to implement Mobi‘s machine learning cloud analytics system and its IoT sensor network for mobility management. Mobi is providing the city of Atlanta with real time traffic analytics, network performance indexes, and event scorecards as part of its Intelligent Mobility Management System.

The downtown event area in Atlanta is home to the Philips Arena, the newly built Mercedes Benz Stadium, and the Georgia World Congress Center. Between the Atlanta Falcons, Hawks, United FC, and conventions, events in the area add up to 20,000 cars a day to the already strained Atlanta road network. In 2017, Mobi’s technology analyzed 30+ events in downtown Atlanta and has been selected to support preparations for the 2019 Super Bowl.

Mobi’s solution is integrated into Renew Atlanta’s Digital Mobility Center as part of the Renew Atlanta Bond Smart ATL Initiative and is supported by Invest Atlanta. In the Digital Mobility Center, Mobi is transforming traffic data into predictive and optimized actionable insights in real time – providing full mobility situational awareness and helping the city make changes to traffic signal timing and traffic police deployment. The city uses Mobi’s cloud analytics platform and event scorecards to debrief and make decisions about changes to improve ingress and egress for upcoming events. Mobi is collaborating with 360ns as its US intelligent transportation & mobility systems provider.

“Atlanta is leading the future of transportation, and it’s the perfect place to showcase how great smart cities like Atlanta can leverage Mobi’s technology to improve the lives of residents, foster economic growth with business community engagement, and increase overall Quality of Mobility,” said Dov Ganor, CEO of Mobility Insight.

“The commitment from Renew Atlanta and Mobi’s lean system allowed us to go from zero to making-an-impact in less than 3 months, and I believe fans and residents already feel the difference compared to last year. With Mobi’s technology the 2019 Superbowl should provide the best experience for fans and minimal impact for Atlanta’s residents,” Ganor added.

Mobi’s standout feature is the ability to accurately map mobility demand – where cars are traveling from and where they are going to. Understanding the origin-to-destination patterns in the city is key for anticipating bottlenecks and preempting congestion, and while other solutions are cost prohibitive, Mobi leverages data fusion from legacy systems, intelligent sensors, cellular networks, and connected-vehicle devices to provide a cost-effective solution for city-scale coverage.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with Mobi. Mobi’s technology, mobility analytics, and situational awareness are going to expand our collection of tools that will enable us to monitor and manage downtown Atlanta event traffic more proactively and effectively,” said Keary Lord, Atkins, ITS/Traffic Manager Renew Atlanta /TSPLOST PMT.

The Global Intelligent Transportation Systems (“ITS”) market is expected to grow beyond $70B by 2022, according to research by BIS Research. Mobi’s market share is expected to increase as the company both expands its presence in the US and adds its advanced simulation and prediction engine to its current product portfolio.
