Elrod Center Aims to Present Their Cyberbullying Prevention Plans to Mrs. Trump
ElRod Center founders are inviting First Lady Melania Trump to come to Eugene Oregon to discuss progressive plans to help prevent cyberbullying and to meet with desperate and frightened parents.
Junction City, United States – March 24, 2018 /PressCable/ —
Cyberbullying is an urgent matter that needs to be addressed immediately! It requires the attention of not just the tech and social media giants but of the entire nation as a whole, both online and offline. The co-founders of ElRod Center have a plan in place to combat this growing crisis and it will work for all states and communities across the nation, not just in Eugene, OR.
There has been a recent suicide epidemic in Eugene that has reached a critical tipping point, culminating in 5 teen suicide deaths in a matter of weeks, and countless failed adolescent suicide attempts. The main reason for attempting suicide given by most of the adolescents who failed in their attempts was because of cyberbullying. This epidemic prompted Ms. Stiegeler to speak up about what the community can do to prevent the onslaught of children taking their own lives and offer some insight into what is causing many of these adolescents to feel so hopeless they want to make this fatal, final choice. You can watch the insightful and thought provoking video interview conducted by Rick Dancer here https://www.elrodcenter.com/get-involved.html
Julie Nowacki and Marian Stiegeler, the co-founders of ElRod Center, have come up with a new, unique, preventative approach to the problem of cyberbullying and it begins with creative expression and emotional intelligence. Other programs are also included in the plan such as basic life skills for teens and a professional mentorship program in which tradesmen from the community will be paired with teens, teach them the basics of their trade, and personally mentor them as well,. When the teens are ready, ElRod Center will help them get to the next level whether it be a trade school, apprenticeship, and or college. ElRod will work with children and adolescents ages 2 to 21.
In addition to the afforementioned, there are many other programs included in this comprehensive plan to stop the current epidemic such as a peer-to-peer mentorship program, an adult-child mentorship program, and holistic mental health in which the whole family, parents, teachers, school, and entire sphere of the child are involved, not just the child. In addition, unless therapeutically necessary, mental health services will be based in the community, in homes and schools, where the behaviors and stressors actually exist and not in an office somewhere. Other components are support groups, art classes that increase emotional intelligence, and group therapy classes. This program is interpersonal and largely group-based, relying considerably on peer-to-peer interaction for support and healing, and the principals are based upon empirical research.
ElRod Center is inviting First Lady Melania Trump to come to Eugene, OR because this community, like many others across the country. is in crisis, the children and adolescents are dying, and we need to do something about it right now! Marian quoted, “Our emergency rooms are receiving a continuous influx of suicidal teens and our crisis workers have been running on teen suicide calls 24-hours per day. Most of the teens report they are doing this in response to bullying and cyberbullying.”
Julie Nowacki said, “We recently were in a closed meeting with parents of a young girl who took her life and we met with our city mayor, city officials, government leaders, and school administrators to bridge the gap of the broken down communication and lack of resources for kids who are struggling.”
The solution ElRod Center has developed will work for Eugene, and it will work for the nation. The ElRod Center founders are inviting First Lady Melania Trump to come partner with us in a unique, preventative, creative approach to a horrific problem that is only going to continue to worsen if we don’t change how we are doing things. As it stands now, our own Medicaid provider has put a freeze on accepting new providers in the area and there is such a shortage of qualified mental health providers for children and adolescents that parents cannot get help for their children! We need your partnership and your voice!
