Journal of Cyber Policy Initiates Series on Information Security Policy
Topic is of broad interest to cyber security professionals
Cleveland, United States – April 9, 2018 /MarketersMedia/ —
Journal of Cyber Policy has initiated a series of articles on information security policy, the publication announced today. The topic is of broad interest to cyber security professionals across multiple industries. The series launched with an article about industrial information security policy.
“Policy is the subtext of virtually every discussion of cyber security,” said Hugh Taylor, Executive Editor. “How well-defined is infosec policy? How well understood is it? Is it effectively implemented? These are the underlying questions that should inform any analysis of cyber defense and risk exposure.”
In “Industrial Information Security Policy: Rethinking the “Air Gap,” the Journal of Cyber Policy explores why the notion of segregating industrial controls from the Internet—the putative “air gap” theory promoted by many defenders of existing industrial security policies—is obsolete. As Edgard Capdevielle, CEO of Nozomi Networks, explained in the article, “Air gapping does not exist. It is a myth. Most industrial control networks adopted the TCP/IP standard about seven years ago. Before then, they were on a different standard. Once you adopt the TCP/IP standard, there is a gravitational-like force to connect. It’s like saying that one group of folks are not going to talk to another group even though they just learned the same language and they’re intermingling. That just cannot be avoided.”
www.journalofcyberpolicy.com connects corporate information security policies, regulations government privacy, law enforcement, legislation, government cybersecurity policies and national cyber defenses. It features conversations with thought leaders from across the technology spectrum regarding what Cyber Policy should embody and how it should be developed.
