Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, United States – April 30, 2018 /MarketersMedia/ —
Gordon & Doner, PA was recently made aware of an amazing journey planned by two military veterans to run across America for the purpose of raising awareness and financial support for the organizations that aid veterans suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The law firm represents veterans nationwide and wasted no time sponsoring Run 2X2 Vets in their mission.
Run 2X2 Vets came to life from the impassioned efforts of two Marine Corps veterans, Will Owens and Dustin Schnatz. Due to their tours of duty, both Will and Dustin are personally familiar with PTSD and the toll it can take on an individual, their family, and society. It was Will who came up with the idea to run from San Diego, CA to Virginia Beach, VA in order to raise money and awareness for PTSD. Dustin knew that Will would need support, as well as motivation, so he unselfishly decided to be Will’s “wing man”.
The run begins on May 1st, which happens to be the start of National Military Appreciation Month, and will cover roughly 2,895 miles in approximately 47 days. Both Dustin and Will feel that their journey is as much about themselves individually, as it is about the feeling of purpose they are evoking in each other and the strength within a community.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that PTSD afflicts almost 31% of Vietnam veterans, 10% of Gulf War veterans, 11% of veterans of the war in Afghanistan, and 20% of Iraqi War veterans. These estimates would equate to approximately 450,000 veterans currently suffering with PTSD.
Unfortunately, nearly 50% of veterans with PTSD do not seek treatment. Of those who do seek treatment, only half of them receive what is deemed “minimally adequate” treatment, according to a study by the RAND Corporation.
Veterans disability attorney Adam Werner stated, “The Law Firm of Gordon & Doner is proud of the millions of veterans who honorably served our great nation. Will and Dustin’s selfless efforts to raise awareness for those struggling with PTSD is commendable and a cause close to our hearts. It is our privilege to support them on their arduous journey across these United States.”
Mr. Werner, who began his legal career as a criminal prosecutor for the State Attorney’s Office, specializes in helping injured veterans receive the benefits they deserve. In order to provide a customized resource for disabled military veterans who have either been denied a claim or who want to appeal a low rating decision, the firm created a website InjuredVeterans.com to facilitate any veteran’s inquiry.
