The DreamDome building system leverages the natural structural and aesthetic advantages of the hemispherical dome shape. Fabricated from recyclable Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) foam with a fibreglass, basalt fibre or carbon fibre coating. DreamDome prefabricated modular weather-resistant housing is composed of insulated sandwich-panel segments that are compatible with concrete foundations. These housing domes are also compatible with Surefoot concrete-free foundation systems, as well as fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) footings.
The firm uses construction-grade PET foam, pre-finished structural skins, and an UV-resistant gel coating to provide improved physicomechanical, thermal, and mechanical performance in all weather conditions. DreamDome homes are built to safely withstand Category 5 cyclones and hurricanes, earthquakes, and flooding. The interior and exterior gel coating also ensures that all parts of the modular dwelling are resistant to termites and other insects as well as biological and chemical hazards.
The DreamDome structure is available in sizes ranging from 3 meters to 6.5 meters in diameter. The modular structure of these domes makes them workable as multi-dome dwellings with bathroom and kitchen compatibility for individual domes. DreamDome houses can be dismantled and relocated quickly and are ideal as tourist housing, granny flats, and emergency shelters. These houses are prefabricated for electrical wiring and plumbing connections.
According to a spokesperson for the Northern Rivers, NSW modular home specialist, “We are delighted to introduce our revolutionary product in New South Wales with a view to making this future-ready environmentally responsible housing system available across Australia. The DreamDome system is a viable and scalable solution to the increasing need for sustainable housing.
Headed by founder Chris Brown, DreamDome is an eco-friendly alternative housing system designed for a wide range of climatic conditions. Based in Byron Bay, the company’s design, supply chain, and manufacturing partnerships leverage global talent from Australia, Mexico, China, and the Philippines.
